Travel-enthusiasts Nathalie and Jean-Louis poiroux drew inspiration from their international adventures to create beauty rituals for their own spas and partner establishments. Welcome to the aptly-named Cinq Mondes!
TRADITIONAL MEDICINE, A FOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE
Curiosity is one of the main things that drive Nathalie and Jean-Louis Poiroux to travel. This permanent state of awakening first led them to explore traditional forms of medicine practised all over the world. They were particularly fascinated by five regions: China, India, Japan, Siam (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) and Morocco, where ancestral beauty rituals are still widely used. However, the pair were careful to not misuse their newly-acquired knowledge, and worked with scientists to develop a patented, needleless acupuncture technique, marking the start of the Cinq Mondes adventure…
A FIRST SPA IN PARIS IN DECEMBER 2001
The first Cinq Mondes spa opened in Paris in December 2001, and was an instant success. In just one year, more than 1,000 press articles were written about it! Franchising requests began to flood in – especially from the luxury hotel sector. Faced with such enthusiasm, Cinq Mondes developed its own unique architecture and treatment range to satisfy demands and create partnerships. Today there are more than 1,000 spas working with the brand in 36 counties, including the Cristal Spa at the Imperial Palace Annecy, and the only Relais et Châteaux, five-star hotel in La Clusaz, Au Coeur du Village.
STRONG COMMITMENT
Nathalie and Jean-Louis have refused to use any form of petrochemical products since the very start. The Cinq Mondes treatments are designed exclusively with plantbased oils such as camellia, argan and candle nut, and never use mineral oils or silicone. These ingredients are used in traditional beauty treatments, and make all the difference when applied to the skin. However, a love of tradition does not imply a rejection of innovation, and Cinq Mondes is quick to use the latest cosmetology techniques to create a unique sensory experience !
